At our residences we are delivered current which we call Alternating Current. It is called alternating current due to the fact that direction of current flowing is constantly reversed back and forth. This Alternating Current comes to your home from power plants made by electronic companies. Alternating Currents are cause of Alternating Voltages. Wires which carry audio and radio signals are also examples of Alternating Current. AC voltage can be increased or decreased with help of a transformer. For this purpose we can use a Step-up or a Step-Down transformers respectively.
AC Voltage Mathematical Formula
-
v(t)=Vp.sin(wt)
where
-
Vp is the peak voltage
-
w is the angular frequency ;w=(2*22/7)*f
-
t is the time in seconds
Power loss in a conductor-
From below formula of power loss say I=4 amperes and resistance value is 1 then (power loss) P=4*4*1=16 times more power loss on increasing current 4 times. Power loss here is a product of the square of the current I and the resistance R of the conductor given by the formula P=I*I*R
